Maths Week took place around the country from the 12th -20th October. It is an initiative to promote positive attitudes towards Maths! Here at St. Nicholas, we celebrated the week with lots of fun activities. Maths is a valuable subject needed for all areas of life.
Here are some of the activities we did:
In Ms.Taggart's 2nd and 3rd class, they took part in the Maths Week competitions to colour a number poster and create acrostic poems!
In Ms.Lloyd's 4th and 5th class, they worked on their division skills through fun dice games in pairs! They also created their own Maths Week acrostic poems.
In Ms.Gaynor's 6th class, they did a fun online Maths quiz with 1000 schools from around the country, took part in matchstick challenges and did a survey in the school hall. They organised the data from the surveys into bar charts.
Maths Week Takeover!
6th Class took over the classrooms on Friday 18th October. The class was split into groups of 5. Each group did a game or activity for 30 minutes with the younger classes such as a Maths scavanger hunt, Maths movement bingo and board games. 6th Class planned the activities and helped to support the pupils during the activities! Well done to all who took part! It was a great success!
