The Nurture Room environment is designed to be welcoming and safe, to support pupils in developing relationships with their peers and teachers, to develop their self esteem, and to have a greater understanding of and ability to express their emotions.
In the Nurture Room pupils take part in emotional literacy sessions to learn about their emotions and responses to these emotions. They are supported to develop positive relationships with others in the group. They may share news and play games. Some nurture classes also provide curriculum lessons, and may provide additional sessions such as social skills and life skills. The physical environment is designed to be a combination of home and school - we have a kitchen area, a comfy sofa area, a library and resources such as board games!
