Engineer Visit to 4th and 5th Class

I shot this on a DJI Mavic Pro and edited in VSCO. This is one of my favorite architectural structures in Charleston, SC. This shot gives great perspective for how large the bridge actually is. I shot this at approximately 4:00p and the weather was overcast.. Photo by David Martin, Unsplash.

4th and 5th Class enjoyed a very special visit from Sinead Kelly, an engineer and lecturer from DKIT. The children learned about the work of an engineer. Sinead taught them about the various types of bridges there is. For example beam, truss, arch and suspension bridges. The children were then given the task of designing and building their own bridges in small groups. After they built their bridges they tested the strength of their bridges by seeing how many weights their bridge could hold. The winning bridge could hold eight weights while some bridges collapsed after three weights. The children showed great teamwork, technical and problem-solving skills. Perhaps we have some future engineers on our hands! A big thank you to Sinead for an amazing workshop.
